Choosing Your Label Sheet

Learn how to pick your label sheet in Labeliy — search for your brand's sheet template so your labels print in the right spot every time.

Before you design a label, Labeliy needs to know the exact sheet you'll print on. This controls the size of the canvas and makes sure your labels line up with the label cells on your sheet.

Step 1 — Open the Setup Window#

Go to labeliy.com/label-maker. A Choose your label setup window opens automatically.

Three tabs sit at the top: Label Sheet, Thermal, and Custom. Keep Label Sheet selected if you're printing on a sheet of labels that goes through a regular inkjet or laser printer — the kind with multiple labels in a grid.

Using a thermal printer instead? See Setting Up a Thermal Label. Can't find your sheet in the list? See Entering a Custom Label Size.

Step 2 — Search for Your Sheet#

Click the Sheet Template box and type your brand name, product number, or label size. For example:

  • Avery 5160 — 30 labels per sheet (2⅝" × 1"), the most common US format
  • Avery 5163 — 10 labels per sheet (4" × 2"), good for shipping
  • Or just type a size like 4 x 2 to find matching sheets

Each result shows the label size and how many labels fit on the sheet, like "Avery 5160 Address Labels — 2.625" x 1" · 30/sheet".

Click a result to select it. The Live Preview panel on the right updates to show your label size and sheet size.

Tip: The brand name and product number are printed on the box your label sheets came in, or on the backing paper at the top of each sheet.

Step 3 — Set Start Position (Optional)#

If you've already used some labels on a sheet, use Start Position to skip them:

  • Row — the row of the first label cell to print on
  • Column — the column of the first label cell to print on

Leave both at 1 to start from the top-left label.

Step 4 — Start Designing#

Click Start Designing. The canvas editor opens, sized to match your chosen label.

Changing Your Sheet Later#

Already designing and need a different sheet? Click the sheet name button in the top bar of the editor — it opens the same setup window so you can switch sheets. Your elements stay in place, but check their position after switching since the label size may have changed.

Common Questions#

What if my sheet isn't in the list? Try searching by dimensions only (e.g. 2.625 x 1) to find sheets with the same size from another brand. If nothing matches, use Entering a Custom Label Size to enter your own measurements.

Does Labeliy support my brand? Labeliy includes sheet templates for Avery and many other brands. Search by size if your exact brand isn't listed — most sheets share standard sizes.
