Quick Start — Make Your First Label
Step-by-step guide to designing and printing your first label with Labeliy in under 5 minutes. No design skills or software required.
This guide walks you through making a simple product label from scratch. It takes about 5 minutes.
Step 1 — Choose Your Label Sheet#
Go to labeliy.com/label-maker.
A Choose your label setup window opens. Keep Label Sheet selected (it's the default).
Click the Sheet Template search box and type Avery 5160. Click the matching result.
Not sure which sheet you have? Check the box your label sheets came in — the Avery number is usually printed on the front.
Click Start Designing.
Step 2 — Add a Text Element#
The canvas editor opens with an empty label.
- Click Text in the toolbar
- Click anywhere on the white label area to place it
- Type
Blue Pen
Click Barcode in the toolbar and click the canvas again to add a barcode below your text.
Step 3 — Make an Element Dynamic#
Right now, every label would print the exact same text. To print a different product name on each label, you need to make the element dynamic.
- Click the text element to select it
- In the panel on the right, find Dynamic Data and turn it on
- A Column Name field appears — this is already filled in with
Blue Pen; rename it toProduct Name
An Add Data button now appears at the top of the screen.
Step 4 — Add Your Label Data#
Click Add Data.
A Data panel opens on the right, with a table that has a Product Name column and a Quantity column.
- Type a product name into the first row
- Click Add New Row to add more products
- Set Quantity on any row to print more than one copy of that label
Click Done. Changes save automatically — there's no separate save step for your data.
Step 5 — Print Your Labels#
Click Print in the top bar.
Labeliy creates a PDF and opens your browser's print dialog.
Important settings to check before printing:
- Paper size: Match your sheet (e.g. Letter for US, A4 for Europe)
- Scale / Size: Set to 100% — never use "Fit to page"
- Margins: Set to None
Click Print. Your labels will come out perfectly aligned on the sheet.
Save Your Work#
Click Save in the top bar to save your label. It's saved to your account and you can reopen it any time from your Dashboard.
That's it! You've just made and printed your first Labeliy label.
