Adding Elements to Your Label
Learn how to add text, shapes, images, QR codes, and barcodes to your label in Labeliy's canvas editor, and style them with the properties panel.
The canvas is where you design what your label looks like. Everything you add — text, barcodes, QR codes, images, shapes — comes from the toolbar above the canvas.
What You Can Add#

| QR | A scannable QR code — links to a website or shows text |

How to Add an Element#
- Click a button in the toolbar (Text, Shape, Image, QR, or Barcode)
- Click anywhere on the label to place it
- Drag it to reposition, or drag its corners to resize
Every element you add shows up in the Elements panel on the left, with a count of how many you have.
Styling an Element#
Click an element to select it. A properties panel opens on the right with sections for that element:
- Content — the text or value it shows
- Typography — font, size, weight, alignment, style (text elements only)
- Fill — color and opacity
- Stroke — border color, width, and style
- Appearance — opacity and corner rounding
- Position — exact X/Y placement, and rotation
For barcodes, use the Format field in the properties panel to pick the barcode type. The most common are:
- UPC-A — 12-digit barcode, standard for US retail products
- EAN-13 — 13-digit barcode, used internationally
- Code 128 — flexible length, good for internal SKUs and warehouse use
- Code 39 — older format, works with most barcode scanners
Not sure which to use? If you're selling in US retail stores, use UPC-A. For internal use or shipping, Code 128 works well for almost everything.
Making an Element Dynamic#
By default, every element shows the same fixed value on every label. To print a different value on each label — like a different product name per row — see Making an Element Dynamic.
Removing an Element#
Click the element, then press Delete or Backspace. You can also click the trash icon next to it in the Elements panel.
Common Questions#
An empty text box I added disappeared — why? Text elements with no content are removed automatically when you click away. Type something before deselecting it.
Can I change the order elements stack in? Yes — use the Layer controls in the properties panel to bring an element forward or send it back.
