Design Product Labels with AI: How It Works in Labeliy

Picking a template and dragging elements around works fine — but sometimes you just want to describe what you need and have it appear. Labeliy's AI label design does exactly that: type a sentence, get a ready-to-edit label back.

This isn't a separate "AI label maker" bolted onto the side. It's built into the same canvas editor as everything else, so an AI-generated label is just a normal label — every element is still selectable, still editable, still works with your imported spreadsheet data.

What You'll Need#

• A Labeliy account (free)
• A sentence describing your label
• Optionally, a logo or reference image to attach

Step 1 — Open AI Design#

Go to labeliy.com/label-maker, pick your label sheet or size, then click AI in the top bar. A chat panel opens.

Step 2 — Describe Your Label#

Write what you want the way you'd explain it to a person — name what goes where. For example:

"A shipping label with our logo in the top-left corner, the recipient's name and full mailing address centered below it, and a QR code linking to the tracking page in the bottom-right corner"

Or shorter, for a price tag:

"A product label with the brand name in large bold text at the top, the price in the top-right corner, and a barcode along the bottom edge"

Name at least one concrete element — a logo, a barcode, a QR code, a price, or a SKU. "A label for my candle shop" describes a purpose but not a layout, and may get a clarifying question back instead of a design on the first try.

Step 3 — Attach a Logo (Optional)#

Click the image icon in the input box to attach a logo or reference photo. Mention it in your prompt ("our logo in the top-left corner") so the AI knows where to place it.

Step 4 — Pick a Variant#

The AI returns a few design options as thumbnails. Click the one closest to what you want.

Not quite right? Don't start over — just ask for a change:

• "Make it more colorful"
• "Try a bolder font"
• "Add a barcode"
• "Make the text bigger"

Each follow-up patches the existing design instead of regenerating it, so earlier decisions (layout, spacing, anything you liked) stay put.

Step 5 — Keep Editing By Hand#

Once you apply a variant, it's sitting on the canvas as normal text, shape, barcode, and image elements — click any of them to nudge position, change color, or resize, exactly like a label you built manually.

Step 6 — Add Your Data and Print#

If you want the label to print different values per row — like a different product name on each one — turn on Dynamic Data for that element, then import your spreadsheet or type your data in. AI-generated elements support dynamic data the same as manually placed ones. From there, printing works exactly the same as any other Labeliy label.

AI Design vs. Templates vs. Starting From Scratch#

All three build the same kind of label — pick whichever gets you moving fastest:

• Templates — fastest when a pre-built design already matches what you need almost exactly.
• AI design — fastest when you know what the label should say and where things should go, but don't want to place each element by hand.
• From scratch — best when you want full control from the first click, or your layout is unusual enough that describing it is more work than building it.

You're not locked into one — an AI-generated label is a normal editable design, so you can start with AI and finish by hand, or start from a template and ask the AI for a specific tweak.

Frequently Asked Questions#

Does the AI design work for barcodes and QR codes? Yes — mention them in your prompt (e.g. "a barcode along the bottom edge") and the AI places a real, scannable barcode or QR element, not an image of one.

Can I use AI design with bulk data import? Yes. Design the layout with AI once, turn on Dynamic Data for the fields that should change per row, then import your CSV or Excel file as usual — the AI only designed the layout, not the data.

What happens if I run out of credits mid-conversation? You'll see a message telling you you're out of credits, with a link to upgrade. Anything you've already generated in that conversation stays fully usable — you just can't request a new variant until you upgrade or your free credits reset.
